ABOUT
A qualified Bowen Therapist, Massage Therapist, Mat Pilates, Hatha and Gentle Somatic Yoga (GSY)® teacher, I am as passionate about the health and wellbeing of my clients as I was when I first qualified. Drawing on my yoga studies, simple breathing and mindfulness techniques may be weaved into my treatments. For clients desiring to go about their daily life with greater comfort and ease, a course of three private yoga lessons can empower you with the skills to self-treat stiff joints, sore muscles and movement restrictions using pain-free ‘exercises’ in-between appointments + leanr mindfulness in motion techniques
Bowen Therapy and Yoga can improve our posture, taking the strain off our joints and connective tissues. Both can also boost circulation including the lymphatic system, which may benefit the immune system
Initially qualifying as a massage therapist in 1993, I had tremendous results from experiencing Bowen Therapy for a shoulder issue in Australia resulting in signing up to learn BT in 2009. I was very fortunate to be able to study with Ossie and Elaine Rentsch, adding SBP1+2 to my skillset, and learning Mind Body Bowen with Anne Schubert and Margaret Spicer
Having recently returned from living and studying in Queensland for 16 years, I now work with women from my home-based treatment room in Gattonside, near Melrose in the beautiful Scottish Borders. I'm available for appointments from Monday to Friday. My first appointment of the day is at 09:30, the last at 3pm. Clients from Galashiels, Tweedbank, Selkirk, Darnick, Earlston, Lauder, St Boswells, Newstead, Bowden and surrounds will find the clinic within easy driving distance

I have had the privilege of having private bowen therapy sessions with Susie, as well as joining a number of her somatic yoga group classes. I live with chronic pain and have found that all my sessions with Susie have supported the lowering of the pain levels, as well as allowing more movement in the muscles impacted by the pain. I have even found that I can leave the somatic classes with no pain, as the nervous system and muscles have had a major reset, all without moving very much at all. I can highly recommend Susie for not only her treatment, but her care and understanding of chronic conditions, pain and how the body works.

Had my third Bowen treatment tonight and the neck feels great. Susie taught me a Somatic yoga exercise last week to help relieve tension in upper body and neck. I can turn my head further now and pain level has reduced.
My daughter is a Bowen Therapist but as we’re currently travelling, I booked in with Susie while we’re in the North Lakes area.
Bowen is a number of things to me, it’s loosening everything up, it’s almost as if you’re realigning everything to work better and it makes me feel like I’m back in sync.
Susie also showed me a Gentle Somatic Yoga movement to help me work on releasing tension in the back of my neck and to treat my Plantar Fasciitis. The exercise has given me more movement in my neck and I feel a difference in plantar fasciitis for a while afterwards.

It was a wonderfully nourishing 2 hrs. A beautiful combination of yoga and Bowen. Sincere thanks.

I have only had a few lessons from you, and I find the technique therapeutic. At age 72 years, and nowadays in poor shape, I find great benefit from participating in an intelligent activity that promises hope. It’s no longer about longevity for me, but far more important today, is my daily quality of life. You targeted exactly the right parts of my aging anatomy.

I originally came to Susie Gentle Yoga Class because I have lower back pain. The small, focussed movements really do work – you don’t need to do big movements or strong stretches. It is the only time in the week where I feel truly that I can focus on myself and put myself in the moment. I also have less cramps particularly in my legs and feel the tightness I have in my lower back reducing. By the end of the class my mobility is better, and I feel much more relaxed.
